Oratur Irular tribal village
“Give our kids a good education.”
The Irula are a Dravidian ethnic group found mostly in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, and they face severe discrimination. The team came to know of Irula families in Oratur, a tribal village about 7 km from Chengalpattu — and was moved by the words of Mrs. Kanaga, one of the tribal women.
With the help of SMILE Trust, the team built a night school for the tribal kids. The Irula Night School was inaugurated on 26 January 2021. A dedicated teacher takes classes, team members visit regularly for special classes, and the kids receive guides, notebooks and stationery at regular intervals.

Our Daily Food Drive is dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing nourishment to the needy, with a special focus on Orathur. We work to ensure that individuals and families have access to nutritious meals every day — creating a community where no one goes to bed hungry.
