The Poor firmly believes that education is the only thing that would pave way for a better society.

Cover the Poor is a non- religious charitable trust working hard to create a little change in the lives of people in need. We firmly believe that though our light may be small, it can make a considerable difference in the society in need.

What We Do

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

The team Cover The Poor firmly believes that education is the only thing that would pave way for a better society. Apart from the Oratur Irula Night School, the team also provides educational support to children who have lost their parents.

COVID RELIEF FUNDS

During the time of COVID – 19, the team provided COVID relief funds to different families and orphanages in desperate need. This relief fund operation was undertaken in three phases

ORATUR IRULAR TRIBAL VILLAGE

Irula are a Dravidian ethnic group inhabiting the south Indian states. They are mostly found in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Their population in this region is estimated at around 200,000 people. People of Irula ethnicity are called Irular. Irula people face severe discrimination and harassment from other castes and numerous such cases are reported every year. The team Cover the Poor came to know about these people, living in a tribal village, Oratur which is about 7 kilometers away from Chenglepet, Tamilnadu. Having known about them, the team offered to render them some help, but was moved by their words.

One of the tribal women , Mrs. Kanaga said, “Give our kids a good education”

The deeply moved team then decided to build a night school, with the help of SMILE trust, for the tribal kids and the IRULA NIGHT SCHOOL was inaugurated on the 26^Th of January 2021. A dedicated Teacher is appointed there to take classes for the kids and few other team members visit the village at regular intervals, taking special classes. The team also supplies the necessary guides and notebooks and all the other stationery supplies to the kids at regular intervals.

Together, we are achieving breakthroughs in education for children. A good quality education helps children reach their full potential; however, for millions of children and youth, it is beyond reach and many are not learning basic skills like reading and math if they do attend school. one in five children grows up in poverty. Because of circumstances beyond their control, millions of kids never reach their full potential. Cover The Poor has been on the ground providing support programs to the most isolated and underserved children.

Our Projects

Daily Food Drive

Our Daily Food Drive initiative is dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing nourishment to the needy, with a special focus on the location of Orathur. Recognizing the distress caused by food insecurity, we tirelessly work to ensure that individuals and families in Orathur have access to nutritious meals on a daily basis. By joining our efforts, you become an integral part of nourishing lives and bringing hope to those who face the challenges of hunger. Together, we can make a significant impact in Orathur and create a community where no one goes to bed hungry.

Children Engagement Program

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and flourish, regardless of their background. Our program focuses on providing educational resources, mentorship, and support to children, nurturing their talents and unlocking their potential. Gold Heart Foundation Project

As part of the Gold Heart Foundation Project. Through generous donations, we were able to purchase clothes and fans for individuals and families supported by our trust. By addressing immediate needs, we strive to bring comfort and care to those who need it most. With the Gold Heart Foundation, you can be assured that your contributions make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Sewing Machine Project

Cover the Poor believes in the transformative power of self-employment, and we are committed to empowering the underprivileged through our sewing machine distribution program. We understand that poverty often traps individuals in a cycle of dependence, and access to income-generating opportunities is crucial for breaking free from this cycle. By providing sewing machines to the poor, we equip them with the tools to develop skills, create products, and earn a sustainable income. Cycle Distribution

Cover the Poor is dedicated to bridging the education gap for children living in villages through our cycle distribution program. Covid relief

Cover the Poor stands at the forefront of providing essential support during times of crisis, especially in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Our organization is committed to distributing COVID relief materials to those most affected by the crisis. From medical supplies and personal protective equipment to food packages and hygiene kits, we ensure that vulnerable individuals and communities receive the necessary resources to combat the challenges posed by the pandemic.
